Great news...once again Mel and Sue with grace our screens in
a hark back to the golden age of LL. They have been
brought in by Channel 4 to present a half hour segment of
RI:SE between 8:30am and 9am.
Alas, I, and probably a lot of other fans, will be out of the
door and long gone to work by then, so it will be video
recorders set and blank tapes a plenty in order to catch them
on the show.
It's not clear quite how good a move this will be, as RI:SE
has had its fair share of problems since its beginning.
However, it appears that Channel 4 are hoping that their new
line up, might help to recover some of the audience share once
enjoyed by The Big Breakfast, at the height of its popularity.
However, one thing can be said....we will at last be able to
enjoy our comedy duo's antics on screen once again!!
:: UPDATE 21/01/2003 ::
The Guardian are reporting that the show is still only
attracting 200,000 viewers despite the new line up.
However, Mel and Sue fans can take heart, "There
was a minor increase in audience share when Mel and Sue came
on at 8.30am when audience share rose slightly to 5% but the
number of viewers remained static at 200,000."
(full article here) I
guess we'll wait and see how long the show lasts now eh?
