Tuesday, 13th November
2001, an extremely bitter cold day in Londy, and I
emerged from the delays and stuffiness of the
Tube into the chaos of Shepherd's Bush in rush hour... |

| And so after another short interval,
we were treated to a special live episode of PE Department
- with a very lucky BBC LDN listener, Suzie Holmes, appearing
on stage alongside Mel and Sue as Miss Sequin "Cameo"
Haberdasher. Lucky devil!! |
| |
| The episode was absolutely hilarious
- with puns and innuendo a plenty - and was about the banning
of trousers at St Swithuns, causing Martin and Derrick untold
anguish. Mel and Sue kept saying that their new,
temporary addition to the cast was far too attractive and
young to be on stage with them. Alas, Miss Haberdasher
was killed at the end by a stray ball (I think?? - please
correct me if I'm wrong), seeing as she was merely a cameo
role. As always Mel and Sue kept making each other
laugh, which made it even more fun. It's just a shame we
didn't get more of Mel and Sue during the evening. :o( |

Finally, came Al Murray, The
Pub Landlord. A good observation of your
stereotypical English (landlord-type) bloke - beer drinking,
putting the world to rights. There was lots of audience
participation by people with "Good British names". He
even asked one of the guys in the front row to go and get him
a drink from the bar, half way through his act. |
| |
| Heaven help anyone who said they
worked in IT - "www? You know what that means: wan*er, wan*er,
wan*er!!" And could he shout!!! Blimey! |
| |
| And so that was the end of a great
night of comedy. Having done my bit for Children In Need
and had a really good night into the bargain, it made getting
home late and getting up early for work the next day, all
worthwhile. I'll certainly have to look out for some of
the above and make the most of some top quality comedic
entertainment!! A really good night. |
